SPICMACAY, UC Davis is a registered student organization at UC Davis. We organize concerts of Indian classical music and dance, bringing eminent and upcoming artists to the local community. Our aim is to arrange at least one major concert of classical music or dance every quarter.

We are entirely a volunteer effort.

 All concerts are free, and there are no membership fees.

About The Artists:

Raja Sivamani - Veena

Raja Sivamani trained under Srikanth Chary for over ten years and has been performing for dance concerts since 2000. He has also been rendering solo veena concerts in the Bay Area and in other U.S. cities. He is currently a medical student at University of California, Davis.

Srinivas Reddy - Sitar

Srinivas Reddy is a professional Indian-American concert sitarist, guitarist, and composer. In 1998, he came under the tutelage of Sri Partha Chatterlee, a direct disciple of the late sitar maestro Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. He has been training with his teacher in traditional guru-shishya style; he teaches and performs the Hindustani musical tradition in San Francisco Bay Area.

Ferhan Qureshi - Tabla

Ferhan Qureshi has been a student of tabla and traditional Pakistani/Indian music for over 10 years. He is a senior disciple of the tabla maestro, Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari Khan who is considered one of the finest tabla players today. Ferhan studies the Punjab gharana of classical tabla. Currently, he is the Director of Artist Management at Bo Records.

Narayan Natarajan - Mridangam

Narayan Natarajan is a talented Mridangist, vocalist and a harmonium player. His initial training was under his father, Shri. P. V. Natarajan and later under the tutelage of Shri. P.S. Parameswaran of Bombay. Since his arrival in the U.S. in 1989, he has been a most sought after artist, accompanying dance productions and performances in the Bay Area.
